  1. There is no question that LED lighting is cheaper, more economical and more environmentally friendly than neon. However, it is hard to say that LED is better than neon. Neon is such a classic representation of “Americana” that it will always stand out. From a marketing prespective, standing out is always a plus. Both have their advantages. Thanks for sharing!

      For franchise signs, exposed neon will not be allowed by many landlords or municipalities. So for consistency, Franchises need to adopt a more widely compliant design where LEDs have yet another advantage.

    Neon has a vintage look, but the cost, complexity, and reliability make it a risky choice for franchises that are deploying to locations across the country. I think flex LED tube lighting will give much of the benefit of the noeon look with less risk. Artists may prefer the look of neon, franchise owners need their signs to work reliably for many years.
